Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

Quick query: which side out on new flywheel side crank seals in a V1? Flat side, or lips? The original was flat side out. Here's the new ones

Re: Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

its always, cupped towards case pressure, flat out. dont think seal direction matters, unless theres a wear groove on your crank the id put where its clean n smooth. putting flat side in would stuff your case.

Re: Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

Flat side out. I also like to put a bit of locktite on the outside of the seals, I have had the rubber seals pop out on a v1 before.

Re: Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

Flat out it is. Thanks for the Loctite tip.

I never use loctite on any seal. A double lip seal only has one spring.

Re: Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

Put a touch of Loctite on, and seal pushed in place with my thumbs. I hope it holds.

Re: Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

I'm glad I bought two. The first one leaked. I've never had that happen, but oh well. I bought two, so I put the second one in, and no more leaky leaky.

Whatever.

Re: Minarelli V1 Crank Seal Orientation

From the factory minarelli use metal seals, if I use the rubber ones I locktite them. I have been using the athena metal ones and havent had isses with my Gila or euro kit popping seals since.

Doesn't really matter. Flat side out though.
