Carb poppin' off, what da eff?!

HALP. My carb keeps poppin' off my 78 Concord. I have a pollini 80 wit stock intake and 14.12 dellorto SHA carb. The clamp is tiiiggghhhtttt and the shim is fresshhhh. I've cleaned the carb. Any tricks and tips for keeping my damn carb on?!?!?! The bastard just won't stay on.

Sometimes your intake can just wear out, especially on a bike that vibrates a lot. you could always use bailing wire or something to “tie” the carb in place. Not pretty but it’s mopeds.

Excessive back pressure on the carb can be attributed to bad rings.

You might consider installing a set screw .

You need a bigger carb anyway. 80cc kit, right?

Do you have the correct Dellorto SHA 1mm thick carburetor shim - 20mm OD/18mm ID for the stock Concord V1 intake & Dellorto SHA 14/12 ?

Dellorto SHA 1mm carburetor shim - 20mm OD/18mm ID

I agree that a Dellorto SHA 16/16 and re-jetting would be a nice upgrade for that Polini kit.

Dellorto SHA 16/16

dellorto SHA 1.5mm carburetor shim for Dellorto SHA 16 & stock Concord V1 intake (21mm OD/18mm ID) (edited)

Re: Carb poppin' off, what da eff?!

when u slide on the sha b4 u tighten it should be pretty snug. if loose, and slide easy then somethings wrong.

Hey Jess, You can try filing the clampy part of the carb to get it to close a little tighter.
