I am going to be buying a 1970s malaguti commuter from a friend with the intent of fixing up and possibly restoring in the future where would I be able to find parts
Not gonna lie, that is a hard weathered bike.
But:

50$ is not a bad price though (edited)
you may be better off selling this bike for parts instead of rebuilding it
If it's the MO2 engine, part it out. A lot of work if the front forks are bent or bad and the wheels are shot.
If engine is good, 100 bucks for sure plus shipping.
It probably has a morini motor so you can swap parts with any morini bike. I got atleast a box full of morini spare parts. If you can't get it running you might want to swap the engine for an m04 or even buy a good running malagutti bike online for about 900.00
$900? Those must be NY prices.
What makes the engine mo-2
When you see the starter clutch cable entering the right side case,it's an MO2(that's a two-speed). If it just has a lever atop the right side operated by a cable,it's an MO1. (edited)
