Honda PA501

I tried to pedal start my moped recently and noticed that the engine is not turning over? I'm assuming the starter clutch is not working? Does anyone know if you need a puller to remove the inner face plate to access the pawl's?

Are you using the decomp? A 14mm socket to get to the starter clutch. Use an impact, or a piston stop.

Alternatively you can use a strap wrench on the flywheel. Or use the dangerous "stick a flathead screwdriver into the flywheel window to stop it from turning" method.

Don't lose that 14mm nut on the pulley side. It's a special nut that's a bitch to find at hardware stores.

Re: Honda PA501

After I get the nut off, will I need a puller?

Is the lever on the rear hub set to engine mode?

Actually yeah that's probably it. Unless your starter shoes fell off.

It's been forever since I've taken a clutch off but I think you will need a puller (I assume that's why I have one; I know I don't use it on the stator side).
