Puch Pinto peddal help

I am having a issue that I can't seem to figure out with my puch jcpenny Pinto. Both pedals are spinning independent of one another. Did a piece fall out or am I missing something...? maybe just a picture of one that's working where I can see if I missing a piece... thanks for any advice and help!!

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

What? Maybe your cutter pins are missing. That's the bolt like thingy that slides onto the pedal shaft and keeps the crank arms in place.

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

You need a (9.5mm) cotter pin bolt and Treats sell them...They used to be used on older bicycles but not that much anymore....If you are good enough you can make them by grinding down a bolt...

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

what other issues could be causing this?..

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

You never acknowledged Alex's & Bob's reply above^^^

So who knows?

Broken pedal crank?

Optical illusion?

Demon possession?

Too much blotter? (edited)

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

Thanks for the reply's...I didn't acknowledge because I'm not sure if that's the problem as I wont be with the moped for another week (away for work). I couldn't confirm nor deny that, that could be the issue but appreciate the time and effort for responses. I will post a picture when I can.

I'm hoping for no demon possession lol

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

don't put the cart before the horse

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

The pedalcrank,...solid one piece shaft...wheels...forks....motor,...seat ....everything except the frame and fuel tank are PUCH...

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

On a side note, that tail light is the version that has NO resistor to ground. Meaning engine will die when brake bulb burns out.^^

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

Sorry for the lack of pictures haven’t gotten around to tackling this yet as it’s been very cold where I live..any help is appreciated. Only the left side has a pin and the right side seems to be missing something as they spin independently thanks

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

There either has to be a cotter pin or the pedal arm is welded to the sprocket.

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

So I guess the weld is broken then..but it doesn’t look like it ..thanks

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

can any one point me in the right direction on replacing this. thanks

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

See that pin in the left side pedal arm? Do the same thing to the right pedal arm. Buy, and install a new pin on the right side.

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

there's no place for a pin to go..

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

the right side crank and pedal arm are one piece. the left side has a pin. the right side slides on to the shaft but is independent of the left.. nothing holding it to shaft..

what brand of crank is this? can I get a new one and where? (not seeing exact one on treats) is this broken? or is something else causing this issue. I just don't see anything broken? like someone previously replied was the right side welded to the shaft? it just doesn't look like there is a broken weld there?? thanks again..

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

look at the first and second photo there...did somebody drill tap and thread a hex bolt onto the pedal shaft to hold the arm on>? thats not a stock pedal arm for sure if it doesnt have a wedge pin hole.

Re: Puch Pinto peddal help

The right crank arm, sprocket and shaft are supposed to be one piece. You can pull the crank out of the frame to explore more, but unless you plan to weld it you're going to need a new crank either way.
