Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Jim I think you need to work on the shit for brains between your ears.

And I'm proud of you that you can actually make a shoebox fit into the back of a C-5A airplane that sounds like quite a technological feet for you.

Well anyway I got you a little consolation prize for all of your hard thinking efforts on solving this major dilemma of fixing your sub quantum physics problem.

I hope you like it.

You seem to be confused . Maybe I wasn't clear enough .

I suggested shortening and rounding the leading edge of the small barrel end of the cable . Nothing about the bendy . (edited)

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Yes to shortening the cable knarp. Don't worry about it pulling apart. I needs to be about this short if you want to make that turn. I in the past have used a flapper wheel on my grinder to gently shape the knarp down to a profile that will in fact pop through the bend.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

I've never seen them threaded through. Either they come pre-assembled or you solder on a brass knarp. Ones without elbows have a slit.

My mind is blown knowing it might be possible to do.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

PD -- I DID misunderstand you.

You were saying barrel, I thought You meant then bent tube/not the Cable.

I just didn't wanna go cutting off something that I need.

I didn't wanna file down the Small End & then have it pop out of the carb while I'm riding.

Same same for the big end and then having it Not work on the throttle end.

I was gonna order that Thin Cable Knarp but they're closed for the Holiday anyways.

I had to get back into mopeds for health reasons & then I get sold used stuff /that still didn't get me on the road, for retail price --Shitty

And you better post a disclaimer because my gang the Mopedheads is going to be looking for you because we did not sell you down the river.

If we had you would have been wearing cement galoshes.

But after reading this thread I have a bridge that you might be interested in cheeeeep

You Run Your Mouth Like A LiL Bitch.

(I used the term MopedHead to refer to someone who Lives & Breaths Mopeds & works at a moped shop.) (edited)

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Mopedheads is actually one of the oldest moped riding groups around we actually have an offshoot here in the United States for about the last 20 or so years that I'm a member of.

If you don't like the trolling I can send you a handkerchief to cry on

True the Joker's very lame but come on guys it only takes a minute with a file to get the narp to slide through a 90 on the throttle cable.

I was just trying to bring it down to a level that the original poster could understand sorry everybody got upset.

I mean this is posted 42 this thread should have been done and over with in 3 or 4 post.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

It would have been less than 5 posts

If you would have given me Solid Information Instead of being a Dick.

Guarantee you wouldn't act like that face to face --

(Just Another Keyboard Warrior)

I said i didn't file it cuz I was worried about it poppin out of the carb later.

I have some parts on the way.

Thanks to yas that tried to help me.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

knarps (edited)

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

I already ordered 2 of the suggest Short Thin Knarps from Treats.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

If anyone is still reading this debacle

I was using a Tomos cable.

I hand filed the Small End of the cable.

As I filed it, I tried it in the elbow every 5-6 file times.

NOTTA

To everyone who says Oh Yea I do it all the time --

Not With This Elbow.

I filed it until the metal part slid up on the cable & it Still Won't Fit.

Time for plan B

Hey Jim, you just gotta try. If you fail, no biggie. Failure leads to experience. So you screwed up a cable, you can still make it work. I doubt someone sold you the wrong part. Your inexperience may have resulted in getting the wrong part. It happens. Make it work. Adapt, improvise, overcome.

"Experience is what enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again." ;)

Seems that happens a lot here .

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

I don’t know why, but the first day I tried to thread my new cable for my 1964 Sears Compact Puch made Scooter, the cable wouldn’t make t he bend in the elbow and the 2nd day, I tried again and it went right through, first try.
