Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

So what's the trick to sliding the throttle cable through the Elbow without jacking up the cable ?

I tried numerous times/ I even tried using soap as a lube and Notta.

So, before I wreck the cable,

What's Your trick ??

Thanks

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

no trick to this one, in n out. bend wire a little, file a little, u can do it, confidence and stretcheching is a must and a mental ability to visualize it pipping thru. move that rubber boot up the cable too i see u got the tensioner positioned.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Whats on the other end of the cable? I usually wind up cutting the knarp off the other end because I would need to shorten the cable anyhow.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Why not simply shorten the barrel end and round the leading edge ?

Pull the wire out of the black plastic cable housing/sleeve. Then thread it into the elbow and back into the black plastic cable housing.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

1 if I file off some of the small end, it won't catch in the carb.

2 the rubber isn't in the way.

I'm trying to turn almost 90° with a straight cable.

I tried tweakin it in a curve but Notta.

Thanks for the help

What does the length of the barrel have to do with it catching the slide ?

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

u didnt mention your bendy b f with. get a new one.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

It's threaded on both ends.

In your last pic, just feed the wire into and thru the elbow (not the end with the bead on it). I've done it hundreds of times.

Unless we are missing something here. What does the other end of the wire look like?

You will never get the bead thru the elbow without filing it down. And if you file it down to fit, it may disengage from the carb slide very easily and leave you on the road.

If there is a bead on the other end, you will have to cut that off to feed the wire thru the elbow then replace the bead with a screw on type bead such as ones used for brake cables. (edited)

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Everything came in a package/I thought I'd have this done In 5-15 minutes.

That's why I just asked

There's no way it should take this long.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Most folks will just buy the cable that has the Bendy assembled on it oh well good luck Reinventing the wheel next time get the right part and you won't have the wrong problem.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

I bought the stuff from a reputable MopedHead

It won't take that long if you cut off the end and used what I have in the link below. The only way to use the elbow is to cut the one end off and then replace it with this.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Yeah he's a truly incompetent idiot the kind that just makes you want to reach through the screen and bitch slap the shit out of them usually I would show them how easy it is but I think we'll just let this sucker sink to the bottom of the lake.

Can't figure this one out you need to just give up on the hobby of mopeds all together.

You're probably do much better at winning a Darwin.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

AGAIN Both Ends Of The Barrel Are Threaded.

1 Outside 1 Inside.

So what you want somebody to Pat you on the head because you discovered threads on the inside and the outside I think every one of these elbows has that same feature wow isn't that amazing.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

I knew it was last night.

I suggest you try a new hobby something a little less complex and easy to master maybe a stick.

I was going to suggest Chopsticks but I think that would even leave you more perplexed than your original problem.

I suggest if you have a helmet you wear it 24/7 it's obvious you can't afford any more brain damage

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

Are u done acting like you're 12.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

You never answered my question .

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

I guess running to your mommy didn't stop you from being trolled for your lack of skills and intelligence oh well maybe your mommy should tell you what really happened.

I am curious as to what the nine-one-one operator had to say after you were reporting me for trolling You For Being as dumb as a box of rocks.

Re: Feeding the throttle cable through the elbow

PD - the elbow is threaded on both ends.

If I cut off the end, I'll be cutting off the threaded part.

Neil -- I'm a US Marine.

I didnt report you & I'd rather help you get your jaws wired shut than listen to you.

I got a variety of answers.

I bought the Shit in a package from someone who works at a moped shop. So I'm wondering if I got screwed on the whole deal.

So Yeah, I'm questioning Shit.

I've never replaced a moped style throttle.

So What, bet you've never loaded C5 planes, Loaded Helicopters, Rig Hummers to Fly underneath Choppers, etc

Everyone has skills,

I'm trying to pick up some new ones.
