Probably a case of "hey that's easy to find. have them use that" when really it doesn't matter too much as long as its not gonna foam up.

I think i'm just prone to thinking atf is nasty because of stupid Garelli clutches.
I have a mostly full bottle of 5 weight Motul fork oil I will never use if you wanna try it. I think that's way too light though.
I put 10w-30, that mobil 1 wet clutch catchall racing motorcycle schmoo, in my K10 forks and that's nowhere near stiff enough for my liking. I should try adding more fluid one of these days to see I can make them suck a little less. I think more volume helps reduce bottom-out but I also want more rebound dampening which I think can only be adjusted by oil weight on the old timey stuff without dials and knobs. I'll mess with it some more come springtime.
