the special tool is to remove the old one. if you get it out, the new one just gets pressed in by a metal rod which happens to be the same size as an extender for a craftsman socket set the writing on the bearing toward the motor...
the brass gets pulled out the gear side and the bearing presses out away from motor.
the whole trick is getting the brass bushing out.
