Hello,
Can someone tell me which two of the four pictures the clutch pins
are in the correct holes or does it really matter, all four solutions seems to work. Thanks
They come installed as #4 but I feel that makes the clutch grab too early and beats up the slots on the inner hub in the process. Whichever way you go forward with this be aware that the pins are asymmetrical; the narrow part that rides in the hub slots is not directly in the center
Thank you it was very informative and good to hear the clutch segments
can be installed in both ways not to do any damage as they now are installed
as #1+#2 and i also have been driving with them as #3+#4 and a mixture
#2+#3.
I am aware that the pins are asymmetrical.
So the factory installation of the clutch for the first gear is like #4 and for the second
gear like #3. As i understand it now :-)
Great forum.
3 & 4 - in the leading ends of the shoes.
I've always wanted to try one with all 6 pins.
I reinstalled them like that today and it shifts gear a little faster now :-)
the weird thing is if you look at the manuals closely they show it both ways for an a3 there are slight variations in the cases between certain years also.
the oem 5 language one shows them with the pins goin like #1 #2.
but the a3 english ver and the a35 show the pins as 3,4.
it werks better on an older a3 as 1,2.
