Treats is out but I put myself on the email list when they're available. I also emailed jemco directly.

Any other place carry jemco you're aware of?

Re: QT50 rebuild options

sorry no.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

It runs!!!!!

Still needs:

A fuel petcock. The factory one doesn't allow the fuel line/filter to fill up. Do you know the size of the fitting on the tank or a simple way to fix this?

Jemco pipe

Pegs mounted to the engine bolt or ....

Carb tuning

Some wiring/switch cleanup.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Video?

https://www.treatland.tv/moped-motorcycle-petcock-14mm-p/moped-petock-blue.htm

the switch is a little out of position and I had to cut the brass tube for the res a little shorter but they work good.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Thanks Arlie. I'll try to get a video.

There's a specialty hardware store in town. I'll take the tank and see if they have something that will work.

Ordered a 14mm barbed hose end for the gas tank fitting. I'll run clear hose to a briggs shutoff valve to the fuel filter.

For future reference, part is DORMAN 800-133

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Also plan on ordering the Jemco pipe today. Should be here in about 3 weeks.

275 for the pipe, 35 for shipping....

Anyone have a link or something to read on carb tuning? I've got an IR gun and plan on doing plug chops, I'm just looking for a good starting point and what knobs to adjust.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

Think I got it, but which screw is which?

Screw next to air filter, Idle?

Screw next to oil tube, AFR?

Re: QT50 rebuild options

May have to adjust e-clip #20.

Search carb tuning and start reading a lot. lol

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

Thanks Arlie! I'm sending off the money order for the Jemco pipe. Should be a bit more than 2 weeks, which should gimme plenty of time to read.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

So the fitting I posted is on but it was a tight fit for sure. I'll try to leak check it tonight.

Is it possible to overfill the crankcase? I nearly topped it off with synthetic 10w30 and now have a leak out the top of the case.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Jack Rutherford /

Yes it is. capacity is 0.37 quarts dry or 0.32 quarts if you are just changing it out according to my manual.

So that's 10.24 oz if you change it. When I did mine, I don't believe it was close to reaching the top of the crankcase.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

Shit. Guess I'll drain, filter and refill.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Are your footpegs busted? Mlm makes a bolt on replacement unit

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

They are busted, thanks for pointing that out. I had planned on mounting some folding dirtbike or bmx pegs in the motor mount ends. Any thoughts on that? Anyone sell some sweet pegs that work without major mods?

Re: QT50 rebuild options

BMX pegs should fit right on where the motor mount bolt is. Not mine.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

I picked up a set for free from target, they were nice enough to give me a pair left over from assembling bikes. I plan to mount them there.

No work this weekend. Reserve weekend for the Navy so I've gotta fly out to DC tomorrow. Hopefully the Jemco will be here in about a week.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

i got a good engine for $ 50.00 dollars in san francisco you paid shipping

Mine runs?!?!

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

I called Jemco monday. Pipe is complete and should've shipped Tues. I'm hoping I get it by Sat. I'll update with pics when it comes!

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Pipe is here. Trying to get my buddy to come out this weekend with a welder to get it mounted.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Got a little work done today. Got the fuel system leak checked and a lawnmower shut off valve mounted. The fitting I posted works, but needed some Teflon tape. I also got the bolt hole tapped that I'll use to mount the pipe. I've got a buddy coming over with a welder tomorrow to help mount the pipe. I'll try to get the pegs mounted too!

After that and some carb tuning, it's done!

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Pipe is mounted and welded on, handlebars are straightened.

Pegs are next.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Looks good, you going to coat the pipe or leave it bare? Can't wait to hear it run.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike Benes /

Thought about that, not sure. I kinda like the way it looks, it fits with the ratted out theme. I've not even looked around at what coatings are available. Thoughts?

Maybe a header wrap?!?!?!

Sound wise, it sounds like a dirtbike! I love it. Kicked it over last night and revved it a bit, but got yelled at to come in for dinner!

Boy that 50:1 mix smokes alot. Ok to go to 40:1 after 2 tanks?

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Jack Rutherford /

You've inspired me. I'm going to throw on the 60cc kit. Found one pretty reasonable on ebay.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Mike do a plug chop, if Its not lean your probably ok to cut back on the oil a little.

@ Jack get one that comes with a head.

Re: QT50 rebuild options

Any recommendations on a pipe coating?
