Motobecane 1977 50v

Ok I'm new to moped but it a cool hobby as I learn more

I have a motobecane that has run in years. So I cleaned carb and found the tab on slide broke off. I ordered 3 slide all wrong so said screw it new carb

So now after three carbs none are exactly same last one is close but bigger

I had to switch black manifold bushing with the white one that came with the last carb

Ok now I have fuel but I'm have a issue with spark it's nice and blue when I have it but then I loose it

I pull fly wheel the edge of one coil is rubbed and inside fly wheel is rubbed good coils were not loose as far as I could tell but maybe not put in correct. I noticed that you could move coil down if loosened

Crank doesn't seem bent or loose on bearings. Fly wheel nubs seem wore down maybe its slipping

I don't know voltage to change to a new ignition from treats? Can I change and not worry about voltage?

Thanks and sorry about bad grammar

Dan

Re: Motobecane 1977 50v

All of this sounds soooo familiar ... had it all happen to me myself. Let me start by saying if you have spark but then lose it, it sounds to me like you have a loose wire or bad connection. I would check all your wiring connections and pay specific attention to your grounds. Assuming that all checks out and you are still without spark, I would seriously consider buying the cdi partie from treats (NOT 77! 77's is a different product all together). It is easy to install however you will also want to buy a new reverse threaded fly wheel nut and the 19mm puller tool so that you may adjust the timing. I'm not sure what problems you will encounter with the voltage change since both of my mobys are 12v. You might need new bulbs or you might need nothing. Someone else will have to chime in there. Your also going to want a voltage regulator either way, I head the voltage on the cdi kit is much stronger and blows out lights.

Re: Motobecane 1977 50v

Good read Steve

Thx

The last carb I bought was bigger I think for a 30mph instead of 25.

I had to pull the shim out of the old carb to make the new carb fit on manifold.

The only reason I went looking for new carb was becuase I couldn't find the slide for the original carb

I'm new to this kind of forum so I'm going to go search the wiki link you sent me

Thanks

When you say slide is this what you mean? This is just an example though it might be the one. .https://www.treatland.tv/motobecane-gurtner-carburetor-plastic-SHIM-p/mbk-gurtner-intake-shim.htm
