Seized ZA and try to set it free.

So a few months ago I bought a '78 MKII Sport Maxi. The engine was seized from sitting it looks like. After letting the topend soak in PB Blast for a week then trying the good old dowel and dead blow hammer trick. Nothing moved.

The all ports are block by the piston and I have plans to replace the whole top end and rod while keeping the stock crank.

With that said can I take all the cylinder studs out, split the cases and take things apart that way?

Also I will be putting a Malossi kit on this with the stock head while replacing all bearings and seals.

Re: Seized ZA and try to set it free.

this might help

Re: Seized ZA and try to set it free.

I already tried the hammer and wooden dowel trick four different times. Piston did not move

Re: Seized ZA and try to set it free.

if you take off the studs you should be able to split the case then with no issue best of luck

Ken I got the studs out. Should I be able to route the crank by grabbing the cylinder and moving it? Because that doesn't seem to happen even though the cylinder seem loose from the case..

Oh a side note I can spin the front gear forward and backward even though the piston is seized as if the trans was in neutral

Yes the gear moves no matter what. Sounds like you got a seized crank too.

Re: Seized ZA and try to set it free.

Damn! Am I screwed?

Remove trans guts and split cases and if you need a crank then you need a crank

You need bearings and seals any how
