1978 Honda express converted headlight problem

Shane Oldenburger /

ok heres the deal I purchased a pair of honda express for my kids, I bought the converted headlights since they were toast from riding with dead batterys, I put a brand new battery in it,Yes fully charged, when I turn the key on the taillight works(very bright) but not the headlight or horn and the hot wire on the battery feels pretty warm, The moped is stock and had never been messed with and is in very good shape, could this be a rectifier problem?? the little thing under the seat by the battery or do i have another problem?? any suggestions would be helpful since I have exhausted everything I can think of thanks!!
