Blasting home from work and suddenly stopped running (E50)

I was coming home from work the other day on a slight down hill hitting some pretty nice speeds and suddenly lost all power. The engine still turns over freely but it won't start. I'm pretty sure it's something in the ignition system. There was no noise or anything when the failure happened, it just suddenly lost all power at peak RPM. I don't know a ton about these ignition systems, so is there a common failure point on them? I'm on a 1978 Free Spirit with an E50, treats 50cc cylinder, jammy pipe, 14 bing with I think a 72 jet, mesh filter, 17/45 gearing.

i bet u ran out of gas.

if no spark check tail light bulb,

Stock ignitions are bullet proof but If your not timed low(14-15degrees before top dead center)check compression you may have seized.

Check spark?

Check fuel flow

check compression and if low you may want to inspect the top end piston and cylinder especially on the bottom area

Hey bro, three thing needed to make a engine work. Fire, fuel, air, after starting with the basics go down the list checking every thing out and following it down the line. With a multimeter to find we're the break is coming from. All so thought you like the manual for it too.

First off, thanks for the replies everyone. It didn't seize, as the engine still turns over no problem. I just find it strange that it died out of nowhere. I haven't had a chance to mess with it but I'm almost completely certain it was the spark (definitely didn't run out of gas, I have a full tank), I'm mostly just curious if there's a common point of failure in the ignition system so I can know where to start.

Soft seize the engine still turns over fine but some damage/compression loss

Hard seize it don't turn over

Ok bro i believe you like i said before, here's the manual start on

page31 fig 24

The YouTube link is how to time it if it tests ok with a multi meter and it set right then the next thing down the line is the coil, if that tests ok then test the wires to the plug, then test the gap in the plug. Then your good to go unless you got gas problems then you would go to you carb.

All this is confirmed on page 31 to 99
