As the title says, I found a 1970s Puch Maxi that has no motor but the body and seat are in decent shape. Think he wanted $100 for it. I was curious how hard it would be to find a motor to put on this. Or if I could get a newer 60cc on it an work. Thanks

I'd pass unless you want a serious project. By the looks of it you would need to put a good amount of cash into it.

Ya bud, its kinda rough... no peddles, then if you buy peddles you have to make sure that the arms still have thread. Also missing the tensioner.
Tires?? man, may need tubes...if you keep on looking, you will find one for hopefully $250 in way better shape and only put another $100 if that.

Yeah keep a look out for a better deal. If you are still on the fence about it, adding on to what dangmoped said, the forks look very rested, tires and tubes, the wheels look rough although it may be dirt, probably need a new cable set, new carb for sure, condenser is probably bad, no chains, and we can't see the condition of the seat.
There's tons of puchs out there just wait for the right one.

Thanks for the insight! I just have never seen a Puch around here in Missouri. I was thinking it was really rough for 100 bucks. Alot of work.

that puch is sort of an ideal resto / build project.
it's not your first moped, but the same rules apply.
2 main things to consider, do you have, want to put the time into rebuilding that?
what will the parts cost to rebuild it.
tetriary issue is does the ped come with a title, some states that adds a huge expense compared to the cost of parts.
previous posters are correct, better to hold out for "complete and unmolested" ( i dislike peds other people modified / molested)
but as far as resto projects, not many others are easier to acquire parts for.
good time to do homework, price parts, etc. no hurry to buy it i hope.
prob be a better deal for someone sitting on a pile of parts.
shipping costs to everything you'll need will be a hidden cost.
maybe lurk the buy / sell forums and get an idea what the bottom line will be.

If the inside of the tank is clean then maybe 100.00
