Help! Jet size/Range for 70cc Airsal Kit on 78 Puch Pinto

GalatiEat ThisPizza /

I was riding a near stock 78 Pinto. I upgraded to a Proma Pipe & that is it. I just installed a 70cc Airsal Kit. 45mm. My intake, carb & everything else is still stock. I messed around with jet sizes. With what I had available. It was to rich, To poor. I'm not back down to 25mph. With the Kit on. Which was my bikes top speed. COMPLETELY STOCK. before the pipe.

Help me, What jet #, or range of numbers should I be aiming for?

I am not sure on that engine but I just put a 70cc airsal on my av7 and have a 76 in there now and that seems to be good. But I have a 16.16 sha on it so I dont know how much a difference that will make. From what I can tell from reading its different for every bike even with the exact same setup.

That's what I assumed. But I'm still crossing my fingers hoping someone has had a similar stuatiion. Wth a fairly similar bike.

It's a 78 puch pinto. I know the stock carb & intake should help narrow it down.

But wth the kit & pipe. I'm going the same speed I was stock.

I think I need mid 70's. But all I could get ahold of was 80+ or less than 60

Think iive got an 82 in now.

Case matched?

Timed correctly?

14mm carb or 12mm?

Restrictor removed from intake or a good 14mm intake not 12mm?

Squish/compression set for head?

Head temp below 400 degrees F @ WOT?

Timing before jetting.

Ya first you have to time it correctly (17 thousand point gap, 16-17 degrees/mm on flywheel before top center

Not only will it keep you from blowing your kit.

It will help with jetting .

Case matched helps with jetting.

Compression affects jetting and tempature also ( 125-170 psi is good)

A head temp gauge not only keeps you from blowing your kit

It is a good tuning aid. With one you will prolly go over 400 degrees and

Blow your kit up

A metal mesh filter is a must

Tuned clutch and up gearing is a must with a kit too.

Keeping a stock bushed crank with stock low gearing will

Melt the bushing and boom.

A rebuild with a aftermarket needle bearing crank really is what is needed.

Search wiki all these things are there.

If you just slap a kit on your going to fail.

My 70 cc setups after doing all these things (not missing one of them) jetted

At

64-68 jet for a 12 mm bing/intake

70-74 jet for a 14 mm bing/intake

78-82 jet for a 15 mm bing/ intake

Do not run bike without taking care of these things (edited)

Stock Pintos came with a 12 bing. You should be somewhere between a 68 and 74 jet if I had to guess.

I beg to differ ^^Pintos came with both 12 and 14 mm bings

And a 82 jet is too big for a 15mm bing/piston port kit

My Jet sizes are correct

Read the side of your carb and intake for size

If you got a 212A atomizer in your carb throw it away and get a #222

Ken, Thank you for the help.

I've never threw a kit on, & i'm new to most of this. I'm going to ask some of the locals to lend me a hand with Tuning. I've messed around with them a bit. Got A Batavus Running great & sebring still giving me some trouble. But when it comes to tuning. I'm kinda new. & I know nothing about timing.

THank you.
