how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?

Okay, so I'm in DE after being in MD for a bit and in DE they have the great idea of making you register mopeds. With that being said to make my brakelight work and everything work in unison that is set up stock on there (Horn, Kill switch tail light, break light and headlight) I plan to use the five way switch. DE also thinks its a good idea to require turn signals... I have a 1977 50v 12v set up... Any ideas on how to include these into the wiring slash which turnsignals and switches and everything do i need to make them work? Thanks for all the help.

You can get all sorts of turn signal kits for bikes and adapt them to work on the ped. Trouble with doing that is once they are installed they have to work, specially when a cop observes you riding, or you get a ticket.

Hmmm... well i was working on putting together the new switch i got with the wiring instructions from the mabecane site that you provide on one of my other threads moby, but I can't seem to get it to wire correctly... I have tried to figure out what the stock set up is.. I have brown running to number 2 lead... I have purple running to 5, i have silver running to 6... not quite sure which color wire is supposed to run to number 1, and i have a lead from the headlight running to number 3... As of yet I am able to control the lights from my new wonderful switch, havent checked if the horn works yet... but am still having issues with a kill switch, the headlight switch still is function as my kill switch and i still have no brake lights which i was hoping this switch would fix.. anyway can you give me further instruction anyone? I'm pretty befuddled, again in any other state I would be fine and would just hardwire but in the glorious state of DE all accessories need to work... Just confused...

Re: how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?

Do you have a 3 coil or 2 coil generator?

For the most part you would want to use the 5 way when you hardwire the bike and not adapt the wiring that is already there, takes a long time to sort through the wiring diagram.

Re: how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?

I have a 3 coil generator, the 12V system.. Its a late model 77 early 78.. If I hardwire and use the 5 way switch will I lose my accessories? For example will the taillight only function as a running light and not a brake light as well and will the horn still sound? The hardwiring part is what confuses me.. How do i wire the system so everything works. Headlight, Horn, Running light, and brake lights? how it is now if i have a brakelight i lose a kill switch and a horn. if i have a horn i maintain the kill switch but the brake light does not function.. I finally sorted through the diagram last night and figured out how it functions but don't know where to go from there, i have never wired anything before and nothing like a french bike with little sense in it. haah thanks

Re: how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?

ive got the same bike i was looking into a turn signal kit at auto zone, but it just started performing really crappy after a few miles of riding so im putting that off

Re: how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?

If it did not come with them stock you are not required to have them. If you must get a cat-eye system, if you find one in working order they are very nice.

Re: how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?

for me its not a requirement its the fact that i dont want to get ran over, its always dark on my way home from work and half the soccer moms up here dont even know what hand signals are

Re: how do I add Turn Signals to Moby 50v?
