I am trying to tune 2 mopeds right now .... I use an infered gun to check head and cyl temp. does anyone know what is the good range to run in. and at what temp is it concidered bad? 350? 400? 450?....

thanks!

Can't use a gun at full throttle speeds

Use a head temp gauge and keep at 400 degrees or less at the head

And of course, depending on what kind of riding you're doing, you can advance or retard timing for lower temps. When I reset my timing temp dropped far, I could cruise at 45 all day!

Well I would run the bike and then bring it back to my garage. I have a hill so I would warm it up, run it a bit around town then on the way home hit the slight hill, pull into garage and immediately use the infered gun to check it.

which way did you change your timing to decrease temp?

Thanks again!

The moment you back off of full throttle the temps go down

By the time you check the temps it could be off by 50-100 degrees

Yes by timing to 17-16 degrees rotation before top dead center on the flywheel you will drop much in head temps

Just get a trail tech head temp gauge
