Hobbit headlight is dim

My 80' PA2's headlight is so dim. Works reliably, and it's bright enough to be seen, but it only ever gets as bright as most mopeds do at idle.

So, I'm just curious if this is typical for a Hobbit, or if there is something possibly wrong.

Possible short in the lighting coil. Had that happen to a guitar pickup I was fiddling with. It still worked, but due to the short, it didn't create as much voltage as before and was quieter. It wasn't the desired result and ruined a $80 pickup.

Hmm yeah maybe so. Have wire; will wrap!

IIRC, my impedance went from 13.5k ohms to 5k ohms with that little venture. I could still rewrap it, but found another used for less than the cost of wire.

Possible voltage regulator going bad.

Check impedance of a known good lighting coil, then check yours. Possible rectifier issue?

Re: Hobbit headlight is dim

Oddly enough I don't have the rectifier installed. Well, I'm sure I can diagnose it.

I just wanted to make sure that this wasn't just typical behavior for a stock Hobbit.

Check to make sure grounding is good,
