REPAIR

103 Help Needed. /

Hey everyone! im new here.

I just recently came into possession of a very old used and abused pugeot 103.

It was working for the guy that had it last, and then he said it stopped starting, and gave it to me.

He said something about that there wasnt any spark, and looking at the moped it seems to be a very complex system.

Can anyone tell me where to start for troubleshooting this problem?

Thanks!

Oh and how do you start it? sorry if thats a dumb question, i just havnt found a way to actually turn the engine over.

ANY help is MUCH apprecaited!!

Thanks!

Re: REPAIR

put a new spark plug in and see if that helps, if not check your wiring.

There are a few ways to start mopeds push, peddle and kick... (sometimes pull, or push button)

Any how depress the clutch, pleddle/push, release your clutch when the engine starts to turn over.

Re: REPAIR

If you go here at the bottom of the page, there's a link to an owner's manual. That should tell you how to start it.

As for no spark, what Erin said. Spark plug and wiring are good, easy places to start. If those things don't fix it, then run a few searches on here and on the performance forum for "Peugeot spark" or "Peugeot timing." There are quite a few threads about it, and I bet there are at least a few good ones that explain it well.

Two real usefull tools for a Peugeot, are a piston stop and a flywheel puller.

Alrighty. Thanks for all the replies! ill pick up a new sparkplug next time i run to town.

About the starting issue, I read the manual and it said the clutch will automatically engage when the bike hits about 4mph.

The clutch does not engage the engine at that speed, so im guessing the clutch is frozen.

Thanks again!
