I need some help, badly. (lb80 yamaha chappy)

I just bought a yamaha chappy, 1978.

It needs a newbattery, how do I take the battery out?

How do I change the oil?

How do I change the signals?

and what is the ideal ratio between gas and oil

Does it have an auto mixer for the gas and oil.

Very rudimentary to mopeds and motors all in all.

Feel free to answer any of the questions, thanks.

Larry, get a chappy service manual and read it. That will get you started.

Re: I need some help, badly. (lb80 yamaha chappy)

Most of your questions will be answered by looking under the seat.

the signals will probably start working when you get a new battery

Re: I need some help, badly. (lb80 yamaha chappy)

I need to find the whole rear signal part, the guy I bought it from took them off. Anyone know a website where I can find them?

Re: I need some help, badly. (lb80 yamaha chappy)

the only place you're likely to find parts and manuals (in the US) is ebay.. some amount of perfomance parts can be ordered from france, or so i hear.

oh and just for shits:

>It needs a newbattery, how do I take the battery out?

lift the seat up, and then remove the front panel, you'll see the battery there..

>How do I change the oil?

you don't, it's auto-injected.. tank is under the seat.

>How do I change the signals?

srsly? all the hardware, or just the bulbs? they're lightbulbs, you take the cover off and change them.

>and what is the ideal ratio between gas and oil

chappys are oil-injected.. you can remove the oil injector and premix if you really want to, but the oil injection is fairly safe. oil tank for the injector is under the seat, in front of the gas tank.

>Does it have an auto mixer for the gas and oil.

yes it does.. the oiltank is under the seat, in front of the gas tank.
