Puch ignition troubles

Aaron McTaggart /

So, I just got a 1980 Puch 2hp at my local swap meet for $65.After a number of trips to the hardware store, I got the fuel system working great. Then, i bought a 6 volt volkswagen coil because the orginal was missing. Heres the problem: The coil has two wire prongs. I connected a dark blue wire to the positive(this was connected to nothing and in the wiring diagram there was a blue wire going to the coil.) Next, I took a wire from the negative prong on the coil and attached it to a ground on the frame. Then, I got a new spark plug and igntion wire. So, is my wiring right? And, if so, why isn't my ped starting?

Re: Puch ignition troubles

Did you set the timing and did you ground/check the other side of the magneto coil

is it wired straight from the motor? or is it inline with the rest of the bikes wiring?
