General 5 star, no spark!

I have a general five star, that has no spark, and it should. The points are good, and so is the spark plug. I need help asap!

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

Im no moped guru but I may have had your problem. Do you have a hypertension coil? Otherwise I'd say the condensor is shit.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

huh, I'll check it out. thanks for the reply.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

I don't know what year yours is or if you just got this bike or what, but on mine there is a blue wire from the magneto that is meant to recharge a battery and if it is hooked up incorrectly at all, then it will not spark. mine is an '85 by the way. just something else to look for.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

1. What engine do you have? The general came equipped with three, or more different engine configurations.

2. The General has a very complicated wiring scheme, utilising a kill switch on the handle bar as well as a ignition cut out at the fork lock, and probably the "safety feature" of killing spark when a bulb is out. Look into hotwiring whichever engine it is you have, and work from there to get your bike sparking with the wiring harness hooked in.

3. For a minarelli, the above info is correct, grounding the blue wire coming out of the engine will hot wire your bike to spark.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

Were can i get a wiering diagram.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

I forgot to say, it is a minerelli V1 moter.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!

Here's the diagram i used to re-wire mine. i got is off of a previous post here. a little hard to read on screen. if you can, print i. if you can't figure something out, ask...i'm pretty familiar after my battle with it.

Re: General 5 star, no spark!
