Cadys are usually restricted internally. It has that weird wraparound intake doesn't it? A larger carb probably won't do much, however, if you can fit a suitably sized dellorto on your intake, it might save you some trouble. My gurtner was sort of bitchy.

yeah, wraparound intake. Im nt sure how to find a similar sized carb though. I heard you need specidifc jetting and stuff like that.

I really dont know much about carbs, but how would I know which jets are right, how do a read/cross-reference a jet size?

The cady sat outside a house for 20 years in Canadian winter, (the guy gave it to me for free) and I got the thing fixed up a bit. But the carb looks ok, but the float bowl is dented and there no airbox/airfilter on it so im thinking of just gettin a new carb. If I did get a carb cleaner, is the aerosol or non aerosol better. thanks

I've logged a few hours on the cady carb...a finicky little contraption if I do say so! If you are going to work on the one you have, disassemble everything, run a strand of stiff wire through EVERY orifice, remove the diffuser (but note its exact position in the housing) and ensure that the tiny pin holes of the idle circuit are not gummed up, soak the carb body in heavy-duty cleaner (Tip: drop it off at your neighborhood hot rod shop. They do all kinds of carb work and they have some intense carb cleaner). After the soak, get them to blow out everything with compressed air. (If they're a decent shop, they probably won't even charge you!)
