Hey guys, just bought a what I believe to be a hercules, with a sachs 505/1 on it. This, unlike my other 505 has rear brakes that lock up by reversing the pedals. when I do this, the pedals lock up, but there is no action in the rear brakes. Is there supposed to be a cable or something connecting the rear brake and a piece near the pedal? If not, how does the brake lock up? thanks
There should be a long rod from the right pedal crank to the rear brake drum.
no way, they have a 'coaster' brake?
Yes way. I recently restored a Hercules (Sachs) moped with a rear coaster brake.
