motobecane carb still leaks...

I am having a major fuel leak out of my carburetor. I have a 1976 motobecane 50. I have traced the leak to come directly out of the float bowl via a 'tunnel' that looks to be a drain. However, I don't want it to drain. Is there supposed to be a plug there?

I have already checked my float direction (needle pointing up)

any help?

Re: motobecane carb still leaks...

You're missing a part or two.. there should be a countersunk-style phillips head screw in that hole, with a little gasket (o-ring I think) behind it.

The screw is short, about 1/4" long overall. See if the hardware store has something with the right thread.

Re: motobecane carb still leaks...

I see that youn have another motobecane, pull the bad carb out and size it up to the other one and see what's missing, like what's wrong with this picture.

Re: motobecane carb still leaks...

nope. just one motobecane. a 76 50v

Re: motobecane carb still leaks...

There is a screw that probably vibrated loose from you carb, i have a parts carb if you want it, but i'd rather sell the whole carb.

It's dirty, but complete except for airbox and filter.

If you can't find a screw that fits, let me know if you want mine carb.

or, ask dan adams if he has a spare screw.
