I have some rust in my cylinder

I bought a 1978 puch maxi off a friend for 10 bucks. It hasn't been running in about 8 years and the engine was siezed. I soaked the sieze and knocked it out. The cylinder has a ring of rust maybe about .5mm to 1mm thick where it was siezed. Anything i can do to get this off without having to have the cylinder honed out. I have basic to moderate skills with engines. This is my first ever moped.

Thanks for the info. could i also use a little fine steel wool or would that marr it up to bad

Re: I have some rust in my cylinder

ehh try not to scratch the cylinder up. first off you might widen the cylinder and any burrs or scratches will get worse when the pistons moving and its another place for soot to build up
