Removing points cover/flywheel on Motobecane HELP

Hello all,

I need to remove the flywheel on my motobecane to change the condensor, but have not found a good way to hold the flywheel still in order to torque it off. Anyone have any good tricks? I'm in a bind. ~ David

put about 6 inces of heavy duty rope in the spark plug hole!

it is a soft cushion and works every time

Is the nut holding it on right threaded? or is it opposite? THanks ~ David

Opposite.. it's a left-hand thread.

if you use a socket wrench you can break it free. remember to locktite your mag. nut back on and torque it on there good.

you can use an extra long spark plug, but there is a slight possibility of overload. Its no fun when the ceramic breaks in your cylinder. The first method I ever used was a craftsman strap wrench, availble at sears for about $20. works great.

Just picked up a set of Alltrade strap wrenches from Menards. $9.50 for a pair - one goes to 4"+ the other to 6"+

Quality seems good, but I've only used them once so far. Nicely designed cushioned handles, too.
