the bearing blues

Jason Luther /

i recently got a puch maxi. cleaned the carb and it fired right up. noisy though. i took the top end off to clean it up and found absolutly no play in the con rod. this is goodsince i have had such bad luck with cranks. now, i can wobble the magneto flywheel. is this indicative of a bad main bearing? if so, is it very difficult to replace?

Re: the bearing blues

Assuming that the flywheel is correctly installed on the shaft, then you are correct - the main bearing is gone.

Replacement entails a complete teardown of the engine.
