Fork lock doesn't seem to work.

1980 Motobecane 50v

The key is in the fork lock, but I can't turn it or pull it out. I looked underneathe and treied linning up the hole, but nothing will work. Any suggestions?

drill it out and install a new cylinder :P

The key is stuck in the cylinder.

Drill out the pin holding the tumblers and punch it out from behind. Key and all. I think Mopedlar had said one time he had some NOS ones for sale.

Does the lock cylinder move back and forth just a little? It should have some wiggle.

If NO wiggle I would say it's rusted in place. WD40 the crap out of it and give it some tapes to break the rust..

IF engaged and you may need to wiggle the fork to get it to release.

Locks Brass and Forks Steel are unlike metals which corrode over time and need to be worked and lube-d.

The tumblers are corroded, try PB blasterbut I would thing they are fried in there.

Yes it wiggles a little, but it is not locked in place.

It's more like the key is stuck in place, or someone tried to force the wrong key.

I'll try your suggestions. Thanks.
