Problem with Targa LX

I am now working on a 2003 targa LX, and I am having some problems. The bike wont start without the choke on, and once it is started you need to take the choke off and sometimes it will pickup and go, sometimes it will stall. After getting up to speed, it is great. When you stop it WILL stall. I have put a different reed valve and switched carbs on it. Im stumped.

Take the carb apart down to all of the pieces and clean them, change your spark plug, do a good once-over on the whole bike. Sometimes the smallest thing will keep it from running at optimal performance (as I have found MANY times), keep us posted...

Re: Problem with Targa LX

how high is the bike idling? It kinda sounds like you are idling too low.

The idle screw is in 3/4 of the way. I have tried 2 carbs, both clean, new plug, fresh gas, new reedvalve, #53 jet.

tighten the intake mounting screws.

retorque the head bolts to 10 ft/lbs or replace the base gasket if torqueing does not help.
