Spark-points problems

So, My '77 Batavus VA broke down. I tried all of the usual diagnosis things and noticed that is was sparking, but very intermittently. I cleaned the breaker points, as suggested in fred's guide, but the problem persisted. Then I turned it over and looked in the flywheel. I noticed that there was a spark in the magneto. After a lot more observation, I noticed that it was actually sparking between the breaker points, like, between the points. So, the plug fires maybe once out of every 10 times the points open, and the other nine times it sparks between the points. Does anyone have any idea of what to do? Thanks for your help.

Re: Spark-points problems

These are the textbook symptoms of a failed ignition condenser. Replace it, and things should be just fine.

Hope this helps.
