Brand new rings are first slipped in, level and close to the very top of the cylinder and the end-gap is measured.
Since rings expand there must be some gap, but not too much. Corrections are made a little at a time.. carefully.. with a sharp file.
I'd check out that condenser possibility.. swap the condenser with a known good one. I dont own a moby and would tend to listen to people who do.
