compression test on pa50

just finished rebuilding pa50 engine. have yet to give the carb a service, but can i do a compression test on the block dry, or will i only get proper compression when the engine is drawing fuel.

Re: compression test on pa50

the oil film left on the cylinder wall by the fuel:oil mixture certainly affects compression so i wouldn't put a lot of stock into the results of a test done dry...

and anyway, on a newly rebuilt engine wouldn't even bother with compression tests till the rings are broken in... and then only if there was some indication of ring problems or low compression.
