A3 Piston Question

Nathan Edwards /

I just got an '80 A3 which doesnt run and needs quite a bit of work on it. When I peddle the bike, the piston doesnt move. What could this be? If it is seized would it peddle easily? Also, the throttle line is broken off and some of the electrical looks bad. Is this worth fixing? The body is great and wheels/gears would only need minor work... I am taking of the top end, it wiggles but doesnt want to come off. I WD-40'ed it and will try it tomorrow... is this normal as well? Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah... I forgot. Does a broken throttle line affect compression? I dont think it does... am i right?

Thanks.

Re: A3 Piston Question

You have to pedal it backwards to engage the starter. It is like kick starting. It is a great ped when everything is working as it should.

Re: A3 Piston Question

Yes, A-3's rock. If it is seized, that is not good though. And yes you back pedal to start a Tomos. And no, a broken throttle cable won't affect compression.
