my horn is possessed by the devil....

the horn on my 1978 puch newport doesn't sound when I press the button, only when I turn the handlebars anywhere left of center. Weird? yes, I know. All the wires are where they should be and snug in their fittings. It's really annoying to have the annoying buzzer sound anytime I take a slight left. Sometimes when I am riding and I turn left, the horn cuts out and back in briefly and randomly, but while at a stop it sounds anytime I turn the handlebars left. Any flippin' ideas?

your harness may be pinched on the fork stop.

Look at the bottom of your tripple tree, right by the frame and look for a snag or pinch in the harness.

Thanks, I'll check again. For now I have bypassed the horn by just connecting the two cables to eachother directly, and everything works perfectly (minus the horn). I think the horn may be F'd.

Re: my horn is possessed by the devil....

I had the same problem.. the connection is exposed at the bend where the fitting that plugs into the horn joins the wire.. when you turn the handlebars it grounds out on the frame.. wrap some tape around the exposed part of the wire and your problem will be solved! :P

could also be the switch is broke on the inside and the contacts hit when ya turn to the left due to the movement itself i had a ped do that :)

hey sondra, this same ped im talking about used to do that, just cut the whole thing off when I pressed the horn. Turned out I had the wrong spark plug in it, I mean it was really off. I got the correct plug and then all of a sudden it worked. hope this helps

Re: my horn is possessed by the devil....

The buzzer on my bike shorts out both front and rear lights, funny thing is the wiring is what it should be..... go figure :O
