moby petcock

ok my moby petcock is leaking,.

are petcocks specific or can i buy just any for this bike.?

Re: moby petcock

as long as it fits. i had a petcock from a different bike on my cobra.

Re: moby petcock

cool i will throw one on tomorrow then, thanx

Re: moby petcock

sure thing.

Re: moby petcock

If you don't have one that fits, Chris at Mopedwarehouse.com sells a decent one for $19.95 + ship.

It might screw in too far, and interfere with the frame. If this is the case, he says that you can use a washer under the metal seal cup to shim it back, so it won't interfere.

Re: moby petcock

ooh good to know ill look there if i cant get this one to work.

i may also just get it anyway, just incase

thanx

Re: moby petcock

just go to napa and get a lawn mower fuel shutoff valve for $5

it threads in just perfectly, and has a screen filter thing to keep rust out,

no reserve tank.

It works great, but the side panel needs to be slightly modified to access it.

Re: moby petcock

oh rock thanx i like that idea better than spending $20

thanx for the help

Re: moby petcock

i put in the mower shut off vavle and it works great

thanx again dan adams

Re: moby petcock

should i put some kind of sealer on the thread though???

i have it on and it seemsfine but i am being paranoid.

Re: moby petcock

yes you may be paranoid, but there is stuff called blue lock tight. it is a good idea to put it on all sorts of stuff that can wiggle loose. it is a blue liquid that you dribble onto bolts before adding nuts.

I never have used it on petcocks

Re: moby petcock

ive used it for other aplications but wasnt too sure if it would be all that great for the petcock. i was thinking it may get dissolved, maybe ill try it.

Re: moby petcock

Try a few wraps of teflon tape on any fluid-tight threaded connection.

Re: moby petcock

i have some of that ill give it a shot

all teflon tape is the same correct?

Re: moby petcock

plumbers tape.. teflon tape.. maybe 99 cents a roll unless its on sale.. thin white stuff on a roll.

Re: moby petcock

oh i know i have some i wasnt sure if there were different thicknesses i should use
