Speedo cable

Thomas Middleditch /

Hey. Just learning, so sorry if this sounds stupid.

How do I remove the speedo cable from the front wheel of a Puch Maxi?

Re: Speedo cable

um unscrew it??

Then unscrew the other end and pull out the innereds and lubricate it.

I unscrewed it but the cable won't come out when I tug it. Should I just be a man and tug harder?

Re: Speedo cable

No, the force works for Jedi, but not moped mechanics.

The cable comes out from the top (the speedo side). Unscrew the nut from the speedo, and withdraw the cable from the top.

If it's stuck into the speedo drive on the wheel, spray it down with penetrant (like Kroil) and work it gently back & forth until it breaks free. Maybe let the penetrant work over several days if it's really stuck in there.

Ok, then maybe it's not the speedo, cause it's not coming from the top. Check out the pic. The cable on the side is what I'm trying to take out, and my finger is where another hole is, which is I think what you guys are talking about. But this cable was attached to the speedo when I got it.

That should just pull out without any force.

Re: Speedo cable

That's definitely the speedo drive in your picture. Looks like you've unscrewed the nut, but the cable end is stuck in the drive unit.
