So I just purchased a replacement fork lock for my 1979 Motobecane 50V because the key is nowhere to be found. Now all I need to know is how to get the old fork lock out of the fork! Any ideas, solutions, or otherwise?
Thanks,
Blair

Yes.. you will need to first remove the little spring clip that retains the lock in the fork. Then.. you need to manipulate the old lock - i.e. pick it. Once the lock opens, it will pop out of the top.
Might try finding a locksmith in the area that can do it for you, if you don't have any lockpicking experience.
I've never tried picking the lock on a Motobecane, but I will have to do this soon. it looks like a simple 3 or 4 pin lock, should open pretty easily.
Hey, thanks, man. I'll be heading to the locksmith today!
hey where did you get that lock
i got it for $30 from a guy on ebay. his ebay store is located at
http://stores.ebay.com/West-Coast-Mopeds
vtecracerx is his ebay username.
$30? I used to sell them for half that.
Yeah, seems pretty damn extreme to me as well. Take a look at the online photo, the guy has a crapload of the things.
I call hoarding! ;-)
