Make sure to read the 'caveat' post, after the main post on engine timing. Making timing marks on the magneto flywheel is semi-useful, due to the design of the motobecane engine. You can use the magneto flywheel only if you can get correct timing by adjusting point gap. If you have to reposition the point cam, then any marks made on the magneto flywheel will be useless.

Using the main left-side flywheel should work just fine, though.
