Hoda NC50 compression question

Xyplestop Florbledo /

What should I get for compression readings on a stock Honda NC50 motor?

Whats good, and what says "new rings"?

Re: Hoda NC50 compression question

i think it's between 70-120. If it's less than 70 get new rings i assume.

I recently replaced my piston and cylinder with one from a parts bike.

When I did so I gave it a very light honing and stuck in new rings. Now my bike reads about 135. I got a noticable speed boost over my old piston/cylinder that were badly scored, but still read over 100. They ran pretty well, and would probably continue to do so down to 85, but even where they were I was losing power.

Something to consider.

If you have very poor compression you have a good excuse to get a 65cc bore kit.

The 65cc kit sounds good, but I've heard if the kits get too big that the oil mix pump won't keep up with the demand. And since the nc50 has a non adjustable pump that means pre mix. This I want to avoid.

Whats your take on that?

Also, who is good for the kit? A link would be appreciated.

I'm debating getting a used motor and buikding a fresh one while I ride the old one to avoid downtime.

Thanks
