Hero Panther Throttle Cable/Wire

My 2001 Hero Panther's cable/wire linked to the throttle snapped. Suggestions for repairing it are appreciated,

Mike

Re: Hero Panther Throttle Cable/Wire

modify a bike cable of some sort...works every time.

Re: Hero Panther Throttle Cable/Wire

i have a panther, if i was you id get a new cable . i have an extra new cable on hand because i was told people were breaking them.

Re: Hero Panther Throttle Cable/Wire

aggh mine just snapped too, whre can u get a replacement?

Re: Hero Panther Throttle Cable/Wire

Just use a bike derailer cable and grind down the nub on the end so that it looks like what the old one did and cut to fit. Not sure what what moped requires but this method can be used on most vintage peds.

Re: Hero Panther Throttle Cable/Wire

i used a new bicycle cable and ground down the carb end, to match the bead on the original cable. it works but the cable is way too long and has to snake all over before reaching the carb. it's a macgyver fix until a new cable arrives from handybikes... at least we're running again :)
