Just found a "new" moped/CALL 9-1-1!!

Hi,im Leon(alias),a 15 year-old Russian kid trying to make an old moped run. I dont have access to huge power tools,

but i do have quite a few of them-Crafsman ratchet set,

drill, screwdrivers, alen wrenches, keys,etc.

i just started working on an old PUCH Maxi-S moped.

I have stripped it a little=lights, seat, exaust, trunk, intake resonator and filter(black box under the side covers).

I did the "airflow" part so the engine wont have trouble

breathing. The thing is,the moped didnt run when i got

it, so im trying ro make this little puch run.I did the stripping

of this thing so i could learn how everything is put together.

I havent started on the main engne part yet, and i have some Questions.

1=why does this thing have pedals?

2=why is there so much wiring/wheres the battery?

3=my handlebars, where they connect to the fork, are all

loose,(the straight tube going down part) how do i fix that?

Please help a fellow Russian kid out!

See Ya Moped Army /

1. Without the pedals, it would just be a "mo".

2. There's no battery. Everything runs off a magneto system.

3. On the old Maxi-S models, you tighten a single bolt, just like bicycle handlebars.

Richard Wisniewski /

go to mopedriders.org in the moped repair section u will find a repair manual for that thing.

Re: Just found a "new" moped/CALL 9-1-1!

Tell the Russian kid hi from Ukrainian kid, in California! Just to make it clear, the Puch with pedals is called a moped, everything else without pedals are not mopeds! If the Russian kid needs help, I can always help him out, I speak Russian!

Be careful going into the main engine. If the engine has compression, leave it along. Check for spark and clean your carb and it will probably run.
