hey don it's jay from detroit who bought your lazer 50.
I've finally gotten to her and i need some help with the wiring.
how were you going to wire it up?
i could really use a hand.

i think i kinda had the ignition wired up to basically get spark. i cant remember the wire colors, but there are two hots and a ground. one hot, the lower voltage one, will go to the ignition coil. the other hot would go to the headlight and tail light. now from the hot going to the head light, you will need to run a wire thru the brake light swiches and back to the brake lights. i was just gonna run all grounds right to the frame, except for the ground for the ignition coil. the ground for the ignition coil should be plugged into the ground from the magneto. let me know what color wires come from the magneto, and using a minerelli wire diagram i can draw up the simple circuit i was gonna build. i think i had a couple wires in place, they just needed cut to length and plugged in.
black red and blue
ok, i'll try to do this with pics from the service manual. from this pic of the magneto;
black is the power lead for the headlight and tail light. blue is power for the ignition coil. and red is the negative or ground for the ignition coil.
so i would plug the blue wire into the + side of the ignition coil. from the blue wire run another wire up to the kill switch on the handle bar.
the other side of the kill switch should go to ground.
run the red wire to the - side of the ignition coil. this should give you spark. and you should be able to kill the spark with the kill switch.
with the black wire running to the headlight, you will need to tie a second wire into it for the brake light circuit. this will give you two power leads once you add a second wire to it.
plug one of these two wires into on side of the headlight. from the other side of the headlight, run a wire back to the tail light and plug it into one side of the tail light. on the remaining side of the tail light, ground the wire. this should make the head and tail light work.
now, this is gonna get confusing.
the hot wire that you have left over will need to be run to each brake light switch. and you will need a set of normally open type switches. then from each side of these switches you will need to run a wire back to the brake light. then the one side of the brake light that is left over will go to ground. when done, which ever brake lever is squeezed the brake light should light up.
i thought i could find a wire diagram you could use to wire the bike up, but there are none listed on the mra. a lazer is the exact same bike as the general 5 star top tank. the wiring should be fairly simple. they way i described it was how i had planned to wire it.simple and basic.
donp ur so freaking smart!!!!!!!!
thank you so much!
brown noser.......lol
