replacement petcock for sears free spirit

i need a replacement petcock for a 1978 sears free spirit. does any one know what would be my best bet?

I believe the one in the link above should work for you're free spirit. I have the exact year and model as you, and have been looking at that fuel valve above for some time...

If only I had the money to try it out... :/

That is the original brand that came on your Free spirit. Karcoma made in Germany. I also have Italian replacements that I can do for $12.00 . The only difference between either of these 2 valves and the original is that the original had the fuel line nipple coming straight down where as these come out to the right (actually better because it actually is pointing to the carburetor).

chris, just to be clear, what is the model name/number for the $12 italian replacement, so that i dont accidentally order the wrong thing.

Lee, It is not on the site. You can just order the $24.00 one and put a note in the "Notes" section that you want the $12.00 Italian one from Moped army" When I process the order I'll make the changes on my end. If paypaling just deduct the $12.00 from the total.
