Suzuki FA50 Idle Too Fast

Just replaced the throttle cable on my FA50. New one identical to bad old one. Went in fine and all is well with twist grip, etc.

However, bike now has a very fast idle (really even racing). There is still throttle response when the grip is twisted but the engine is running way too fast. I worked on the idle speed screw and that seems to have NO effect at all. The air screw works as it should. Any thoughts?

Re: Suzuki FA50 Idle Too Fast

thoughts.. well.. seems pretty obvious that the new cable is somehow pulling on and slightly opening the throttle linkage on the carb. The carb's slide (or butterfly) is not completely closed when the throttle grip is relaxed... for some reason....

Disconnect the cable at the carb, back off the idle speed screw and see how it idles.

check to see if the new cable is the same length as the old cable. I have had this happen to me before.
