gas/oil mix

I just got my new tfr moped and want to make sure I use the

correct oil/gas mix. Is about 5 oz per gal of gas, for the 1st

300 miles about right ?

Re: gas/oil mix

jim, 5oz might be a little too much(plug fouling?)

you should be fine around 4oz to a gallon.

My owners manual (page 8)says 4percent ist 300 miles=5.12(5) oz and 3 percent afterward=3.84(4) oz per gal. jim

Re: gas/oil mix

still a good chance of fouling plugs with 5oz.

Re: gas/oil mix

My big concern is a seized piston if I have to little oil,

This is my 1st time experience with a moped.

Re: gas/oil mix

well fouled plugs ARE better then a seized engine. does your manual state a recommended amount??

Re: gas/oil mix

4% 1st 300miles, then 3%, that is 5 oz, then 4 oz.

Re: gas/oil mix

I say go for five if that's what it says (still seems like alot though). Sounds to me like the manufacturer is being alittle to cautious, I'm sure they'd rather have you running to the store for a new plug every other day than coming to them with a seized motor.

I broke my new Airsal on my Tomos at 3 oz/gal. And now run it daily at 2.7 oz/gal.

I'm thinking 4 would definitly do it.

Re: gas/oil mix

thats what im going to use in my new tfr is 5oz. per gal for the first 3 tanks and stay with 4 oz. i use BEL RAY s2 two stroke oil. thats how i broke in my hero majestic panther and it runs great .

Re: gas/oil mix

i'm a little confused. i just bought a 75 mobylette and the tag on the gas tank says in U.S. 3.oz of two cycle oil to 6 gal of gas so what should i do?

Check that figure again, Ithink It should read .6(6/10) gallon. jim.

Re: gas/oil mix

sure its not 6 liters?
