I mix fuel/oil in a large glass apple juice bottle that holds about 1/2 gallon using a funnel..

I put a strip of masking tape up the side and poured in measured amounts of water to accurately marked the tape for 1/2 quart, 1 quart, 1-1/2 quarts,etc.. Find a small plastic measuring cup for the oil.

For example, I use a 32:1 mixture. Add an ounce of oil to the measuring cup and then pour a bit of gasoline in that cup and swish it around to mix it.. Then pour that into the jar. Then fill the jar with gasoline to the 1 quart mark and swish it around again.

(One ounce per quart is 4 ounces per gallon.. and that would give you a 32:1 oil mix ratio. )

Oil must be well mixed into the gasoline. Premix it well before pouring in the tank.

And everyone will tell you DO NOT use glass containers for gaoline since if it hits the concrete and breaks you might start a fire from the fumes before you can swab it all up.. If you have a plastic see-through container, it is infinately preferable to using a glass jar or bottle.

Is the problem that it's sticking or being hard to compress?

Go to the bike section at wal-mart. $5 gets you 4 cables and yes, they are plenty good.

I would buy a 5 gallon red plastic gas can, and a 4 once bottle of 2 stroke oil. use the little bottle for measuring, and shake around big gas can to mix 1-5 gallons.

How do I fix small (L) black lever cable to make it tight?

when people dump on their peds, the brake levers hit the ground first, and get bent up. If you get some needle nose pliers, you can often force them to be closer to their original shape.

My moped came to life today!!! YAY!

I found out the answer to that loose clutch lever thing today as I was working on it-

On the lever itself there is a screw. Un-screw that & make it loose. Push the cable in as far as you can. Use needle nose pilers to pull the cable outwards out of the lever if necessary. Tighten the screw. Cable should be tight.

Do you know if Columbia's are supposed to have odometers?

Although the ratio of fuel and oil may be different for different manufacturers of two strokes the procedure for mixing the fuel is pretty much the same. Tat is why it doesn't hurt look at other manuals, you may find the correct way to mix the oil and gas.

Personally, I like to use a oil or gas container. That way I know that the materials that are used will not deteriorate from the gas. I have used some plastics and they have disintegrated from the gas, sort of like melted and leaked all over.

Those gallon oil containers are nice, they have graduations, in liters and quarts on the side. I put in the measured amount of oil then add about a half quart of gas, then stir it around to really mix up the oil with the gas. Then I add the rest of the gas and stir it some more. If you store it in the oil container you need to leave the cap on loose so it can vent.

I was asking for people's personal methods of mixing. Does it tell me what container to use? Does it tell me everybody's own "method" of mixing? Does it tell me creative ways to use household containers as a permanent mixer? No!

That was my purpose of posting this message. I can read, and I know that the manuals exist. I asked these questions because they had a specific purpose.

If the questions annoyed you so much that you felt you had to point out the obvious existence of the manuals, then you are in the wrong forum.

No offense, but the "Buy & Sell" forum might be a better place for such an impatient expert.

My lever has this screw that allows the cable line to be tightened/loosened up. It has a tiny cable hole on the lever itself and when you put the cable line into that hole, the screw tightens the cable in that certain position the line is in.

In other words, the clutch cable on the Columbia has a ball on one end (connected to the clutch itself), and the other end is open ended. (That is inserted in the lever and tightened)

I think it's really nice. It only took me less than a minute to tighten that cable and it pulls the clutch really nicely! :o)

Fortunately, my clutch itself is in great shape. It seems to me that the moped was restored but the previous owner didn't finish the restoration or never put in gas.

I found the cables all mixed up in the bottom cover that is bolted on. Because of this messy configuration, it pinched and bent cables so that all the throttle, brakes, etc were really tight. I simply removed that cover and straightened up the cables and put the cover back on. And now all the cables move smoothly.

I really lucked out on this deal with the Columbia. It's in such a cherry condition.

to fix it myself.

2. I said any fucking container. Understand? It means

it can be a fucking bowl, it can be a fucking gas can

I was interested in how everybody uses regular

household items to measure the gas/oil mix so that

I can just mix a 50:1 mixture fast without having to

measure anything.

3. I am a new moped owner, but I have owned

scooters for over 4 years now. Every and each

scooter I ever owned had an oil injector and a

premix was never necessary, okay?

members that are willing to help. Afterall, that

is the fucking point of this forum. Now, if assholes

like you have a problem helping out without being

an asshole, then don't bother posting.
