Minnarelli and Tomos tips please

Hey, i got a '82 minnarelli motron medallist at a garage sale. it doesn't work, but the dude i bought it from said that if i readjust the ignition points or something, that will do the trick. i have no idea what ignition points are. also, when i pedal it and hit the clutch to get it started, the pedals jam up as soon as i hit the clutch. help please. one last thing, i got a 65cc speed kit on my brand new tomos a35, and now i have to choke the thing at least three times in order to get enough gas in the engine to get it started. any ideas? help is needed and appreciated.

u need to clean your tomoses carb and fuel petcock out

Re: Minnarelli and Tomos tips please

no, i'd say that you just need to let it idle and warm up a bit longer, it's prob the colder weather.

and remember with the choke on you don't need to give it any gas on start up if you do you'll prob flood it, just give it 30-40 seconds to warm up

and the minnarelli prob has a stuck piston, you could just spray some oil in the spark plug hole and let it sit for a few days -might free up. other than that you'll have to pull it apart and see what's the problemo.

Re: Minnarelli and Tomos tips please

yeah sounds like your minarelli is seized. try the oil thing, and if not try tapping it loose by taking off the head and hitting it with a peice of soft wood.

i hope you didnt pay more than $20 for that motron. sounds like its siezed. of course your tomos needs to be choked, its getting colder out.

I tried taking off the head, and the piston moves freely, so it's not a seizure. i've heard people talk about ignition points, so i'm wondering if adjusting them will work. I don't know what they are, though. help please, and thanks for the tips already.

points will not cause an engine to be locked up. its either something in the transmission, or the piston is stuck in the cylinder. how do you know the piston is free if the engine cannot turn? did you remove the cylinder too?

I took off the engine head, and i was able to push the piston back with my finger. the piston didn't come forward again when i hit the clutch again and pedaled. is that still a seizure because it can still move, or is something in the transmission disconnected?

something in the trans is stuck.
